A Quiet Place: Day One Has Biggest Opening Weekend of Series So Far

The A Quiet Place series, which kickstarted in 2018 with John Krasinski's film , still has an audience despite a change in direction both in front of and behind the camera.

A Quiet Place: Day One, starring Lupita Nyong'o and Joseph Quinn, went above and beyond at the box office this weekend, outperforming its predecessors to become the highest-grossing opening weekend of the three films.

Krasinski directed the first two films but has since passed the baton on to Michael Sarnoski, who takes the series back to "Day One", the day the world went quiet.

Opening to $53 million domestically, A Quiet Place: Day One outperformed A Quiet Place by $2.8 million and A Quiet Place: Part Two by $5.5 million in its opening few days.

So far, A Quiet Place: Day One has accumulated a worldwide box office of $98.5 million, a promising start.

In 2018, A Quiet Place took a total of $340.9 million worldwide during its run in theaters, with A Quiet Place: Part Two dropping off slightly at $297.3 million, which is still a success considering its release landed during the pandemic.

A Quiet Place: Day One is the most expensive of the three at $67 million, only slightly higher than A Quiet Place: Part Two 's $61 million budget, but a marked jump from the first film, which was made on $17 million.

While A Quiet Place: Day One is on track to make its budget back and more, whether it will maintain its momentum will be determined over the coming weeks.
