Samms recalled to Soap Opera Digest in 2023, "My very first day was actually on location, when they put me in that rather green and very cold lake to swim around. I was literally thrown into the deep end!” The actress marveled at the amazing run that followed. "We went on fantastic locations, they put me in the center of a love triangle, which is the world’s best job, really, for an actress! I mean, it was extraordinary, looking back, that I went into that with so little experience. But because Gloria [Monty, then-executive producer] was such a good director as well as a producer and because Tony was so generous and such a kind person to work with, I just sort of got on with it."
