TALLAHASSEE — The popular state program that gives Floridians $10,000 to harden their homes is taking new applicants.

The Department of Financial Services on Monday reopened applications for the My Safe Florida Home program, which gives free home inspections and cash to upgrade windows, exterior doors and garage doors and strengthen roofs.

Owners of houses and townhomes can apply online at mysafeflhome.com.

The program was restarted by the Legislature in 2022 but ran out of money before the fiscal year ended.
