Will Hurricane Beryl impact Volusia, Flagler? See where the Category 4 storm is headed

Hurricane Beryl is headed toward the Caribbean Monday as a dangerous Category 4 storm with winds of 130 mph. Will Beryl impact Volusia and Flagler counties?

The massive storm formed Friday night and is moving westward at 21 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center. It became a hurricane late Saturday afternoon after developing into a tropical storm late Friday, and ramped up to a Category 4 storm Sunday.

Named storms this early in the season are rare, especially major hurricanes. AccuWeather said seven named storms have formed in the Atlantic before July 4.

Should Volusia and Flagler county residents be worried? AccuWeather forecasters currently don't expect any impact to the U.S. but if high pressure across the Southeast weakens, Beryl could impact the Gulf Coast.
