Brooks Koepka had a laugh after NHL ace Aaron Ekblad took a cheeky swipe at him during the Florida Panthers' Stanley Cup victory celebrations with their supporters on Sunday.

The Panthers secured their first-ever Stanley Cup triumph by beating the Edmonton Oilers the previous Tuesday. Koepka, a five-time major winner, was spotted revelling in the win , as footage of him cheering alongside mates surfaced online.

The jubilation in Florida continued well into the following week, with the Panthers showing off their trophy to fans in Fort Lauderdale despite a heavy downpour, parading it through the streets. And Koepka, who recently made another cheeky dig at his rival Bryce DeChambeau , couldn't help himself again.

In the midst of the festivities, defenceman Ekblad grabbed the mic and delivered a bold message to LIV Golf's Koepka, donning a traffic cone as a hat. The 28 year old bellowed: "---- you Brooks Koepka! " to the delight of the crowd.

Koepka caught wind of Ekblad's shout-out and responded in good humour by reposting the video on his Instagram story, accompanied by three laughing emojis. This banter stems from a past encounter when Koepka showed up at a Panthers match in March, reports the Mirror .

In the stands, Koepka was seen holding a traffic cone and shouting: "You are a ------- traffic cone! " towards Ekbald.

Following the 4-3 defeat to the New York Raiders, he defended his outburst, saying: "Yeah, he gave up a bad goal I think midway through the third. I just felt like if they didn't win that game they weren't going to make the Playoffs. Dedicated fan, man."

There was clearly no love lost between the two, with Ekbald stating, "We're not buddies. Never be buddies," when asked about his relationship with the high-profile fan of his team.

However, he did reveal that the former U.S. PGA champion had sent him an apology text, which he was happy to accept. "He did what he did, and he apologised,"

Ekblad said. "Holding ill will against somebody and pulling negativity in your body is never a good thing. ""At the end of the day, it's all just sports, right? We all get intense sometimes. It is what it is."
