Delivery driver attacked by dog in Liberty Twp.

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKBN) – A food delivery driver said he was attacked by a dog delivering food in Liberty Township, and people familiar with the dog said it’s not the first time a delivery person was bitten.

Officers were called about 12:33 a.m. Monday to the 1000 block of Park Circle on a report of an unknown problem. Dispatch said there was a language barrier with the caller and they were only able to understand that someone needed an ambulance, according to a police report.

When officers arrived, a man got out of his vehicle, limped over to officers and pointed to his right leg to show that his pants were ripped and there was a bleeding bite mark on the bottom portion of his calf.

The man said he was attempting to deliver food to a house on Park Circle but when the door was opened to retrieve the food, a dog ran out and bit him.

Officers spoke to one of the residents where the dog lived and they confirmed that the delivery driver was bitten. They also said that the dog had bit a UPS driver “a while back” but it was never reported, according to the police report.

The residents informed officers that there was a “Beware of Dog” sign in the living room window, the report stated.

Officers said they would file a report and that the Trumbull County Dog Warden was contacted.

The delivery driver refused medical treatment from the Liberty Township Fire Department and said he was going to the hospital on his own.
