The 12-year-old daughter of Beyoncé and Jay-Z nabbed the YoungStars Award, which honors child and teen entertainers, at the 2024 BET Awards. The show aired Sunday night on BET, but that category was not presented during the live telecast (and the Carters were not in attendance at the show).
She was competing for the award along with Akira Akbar, Demi Singleton, Heiress Diana Harris, Jabria McCullum, Jalyn Hall, Leah Jeffries and Van Van, the latter of whom performed during the show.
Beyoncé also won a BET Award on Sunday, earning the viewer’s choice award for “Texas Hold ‘Em.”
Blue Ivy appears in the upcoming Lion King sequel, Mufasa: The Lion King, voicing Princess Kiara. It marks her feature film debut. The film, which hits theaters Dec. 20, will tell the backstory of Simba’s father, Mufasa, an orphan who grew up to be a wise, powerful and compassionate ruler.
Beyoncé’s production and management company, Parkwood Entertainment, congratulated Blue Ivy on her win, writing: “Blue Ivy Carter wins the 2024 @BET YoungStars Award ⭐️ CONGRATULATIONS!”
In the comments, Beyoncé’s mom, Tina Knowles, also praised her granddaughter, writing: “Congratulations to Blue Blue our little superstar in the making ❤️❤️ 🔥🔥”
Blue Ivy already has a BET Award, taking home the BET Her Award four years ago, at age 8, becoming the youngest winner in that show’s history, for her work on “Brown Skin Girl,” a collaboration with her mom, Saint Jhn and Wizkid.
Blue Ivy also has an MTV Video Music Award — and is that show’s youngest winner ever, at age 9 — along with a Grammy, NAACP Image Award and Soul Train Music Award, also all for “Brown Skin Girl.”
Blue Ivy also is the youngest artist ever to appear on any Billboard chart after her baby coos and breaths were incorporated into Jay-Z’s “Glory” in 2012.
