Potawatomi Casino Hotel's owner has purchased a nearby Menomonee Valley parcel that could eventually be developed.

Forest County Potawatomi Community paid $575,000 for the 2.4-acre property at 210 S. Emmber Lane, according to a new deed posted online by the Wisconsin Department of Revenue.

That parcel was sold by Aldrich Chemical Co. Aldrich operated in the valley for decades before moving in 2003 to 6000 N. Teutonia Ave.

The parcel has more recently been used by Cargill Inc. The company operates a facility, based at 219-231 S. Emmber Lane, that processes ground beef into hamburger patties.

That Cargill operation is between the tribe's newly purchased parcel and Potawatomi Casino Hotel, 1721 W. Canal St.

Tribal officials have no specific plans for the property, said spokesman George Ermert.

Forest County Potawatomi in 2015 bought two other nearby parcels from Cargill: its former research and development center, at 1513 W. Canal St., and a former slaughterhouse, 1901 W. Canal St.

The properties were sold for $6.3 million, according to state real estate records. Both buildings were later demolished.

The former slaughterhouse site is being used this summer for a series of outdoor concerts which started with Snoop Dog's June 15 show.

The former R&D site remains vacant. It's northwest of the newly purchased Emmber Lane parcel.
