#HotInfrastructureSummer, Whitmer’s new video

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer took to X Monday to tout the state’s efforts to fix “the damn roads.”

She posted a video the social media platform formerly known as Twitter bragging about the state’s extensive construction work. The message is delivered in conjunction with dance music.

Whitmer rolled into office six years ago touting a plan to “fix the damn roads.”

The Michigan Department of Transportation has five major categories of projects its involved in all over the state — Michigan highways (M Route) to Interstate (I Route) to Special Projects as well as US Routes.

Here are the “Hot Infrastructure Summer” project names from the MDOT.

• I-94 Road Bridge Rebuilding Project
• I-96 Rebuilding Ionia County
• I-96/Grand River Ave. Interchange Rebuilding Project Livingston County
• I-96 Over the Grand River Eaton County
• U.S. 127 Corridor Improvements Ingham and Clinton Counties
• U.S. 23 Flex Route Phase 2 Livingston County

While there might be a heavy dance beat to the push, the reality means a lot more orange barrels, detours and traffic backups as the state’s degraded infrastructure is slowly improved.
