‘The Bachelorette’ Is Coming Back! What Jenn Tran Has to Say About Her Historic Season

And one thing is for sure: this season is certainly going to be the most dramatic one yet. From the exciting way Jenn Tran — the new bachelorette — is making history, to how she is planning on handling the drama, this season is certainly going to be one for the books. Who is Jenn Tran?

Jenn Tran is a 26-six-year-old woman originally from Hillsdale, New Jersey;  however, she currently resides in Miami, Florida, where she is studying to become a physician's assistant.

The Sagittarius first appeared on Joey Graziadei’s season of The Bachelo r and even made it to the top five before she was sent home.

But Tran didn't let that stop her from trying to find true love! Quickly after viewers watched her get sent home, she jetted off to Bachelor Mansion and began her own journey to find love.

Tran’s selection to be The Bachelorette wasn’t met without controversy, though. Fans of the show originally wanted Daisy Kent or Maria Georgas to become the show's new lead. They even voiced their concerns on social media, much to Tran’s dismay.

“Obviously I didn’t have my phone at the time all of this was going down because we had went right into filming right after it was all announced,” Tran said on the Call Her Daddy podcast. “Coming back to all of that, yeah, obviously I was really disappointed to see all of that because, I mean, the truth of the matter is, there’s a lot of narratives out there, and they’re not necessarily the truth.”

How is Jenn Tran making history?

Tran has been vocal about her historic season, and continues to comment on the ways in which she’s becoming the role model she always wanted as a child.

“It’s honestly incredible and I feel so, so grateful and so honored to be the first Asian Bachelorette in this franchise," Tran exclaimed after the news broke. "Growing up, I’ve always wanted to see Asian representation on TV. I feel like it was really sparse. Any time Asians were in the media, it was to fill a supporting character role, to fulfill some sort of stereotype, and I always felt boxed in by that because I was like, I don’t see myself on screen . I don’t see myself as a main character.”

When does the new season of ‘The Bachelorette’ air?

Tran’s season of The Bachelorette is set to air on ABC on July 8, p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. However, if you don’t have cable, it will be available for streaming on Hulu the next day.
