Coffee mate is kicking off summer 2024 with a fruity and creamy new flavor that some are sure to love in their iced coffee, though others may find controversial.
On Monday, July 1, also known as National Ice Cream Flavors Day , the brand revealed its first-ever summertime exclusive creamer was inspired by the flavors found in one of the most iconic ice pops ever to exist–and if you guessed a Fudgesicle , a King Cone, or Toasted Almond Bar , you'd be playing it too safe.
As part of Coffee mate's "Duos" line of liquid creamers–which transforms popular flavor pairs into coffee creamers–the company announced it's dropping a limited-edition Creamsicle-inspired coffee creamer in honor of National Ice Cream Day on Sunday, July 21.
According to an official statement, the Coffee mate's Orange Cream Pop is "fruity and vibrant," featuring notes of orange and cream that have been "swirled together to create a velvety smoothness" and offer "the perfect splash of fun."
“When it comes to pushing boundaries and turning trending flavors into delicious and crave-worthy creamers, our fans know that only Coffee mate can consistently deliver on taste innovations that elevate the everyday coffee experience , any time of year,” said Leonardo Aizpuru , Nestlé's VP of brand marketing for its beverage division and business unit, in a statement. “This limited-edition creamer is inspired by childhood summers – with every sip, the sweet and citrusy flavor of our Orange Cream Pop Flavored Duo Creamer will evoke nostalgic memories of ice cream trucks and hot summer days.”
A rep for the brand also noted in a statement shared with Parade that the idea to add a creamy orange flavor to its lineup was, in part, a response to increased TikTok traffic around videos containing the hashtags "creamsicle" and "orange creamsicle," not to mention the viral orange juice espresso recipe , as well as trends set by other brands like Wendy's , McDonald's , M&Ms and Sonic , all of which recently released Creamsicle-inspired treats.
Coffee mate's "Duos" line also includes flavors like Cinnamon Vanilla Crème , Vanilla Caramel, what the brand called last year's "wildly successful" limited release of Peanut Butter and Jelly-flavored creamer.
Unlike other Coffee mate creamers , the Orange Cream Pop flavor will not be available in-store. Instead, those looking to try it have two chances to try and scoop the flavor during exclusive drops on July 12 and July 22, at 12 p.m. EST for $2.17 per 16 fl. oz bottle (including shipping and limit one per order) via the official webstore .
