‘My sisters are fighting after one forced the other to announce their baby name’

Two siblings can’t see eye to eye after one sister revealed the other sister's chosen baby name without her consent.

They have also caused a rift between their family members as they are all siding with a different sister in the heated debate.

Their brother took to Reddit to detail exactly what was going on with the sisters, and why a baby name was the reason behind their argument.

He explained: “I have two sisters. They are 'Rachel' [30F] and 'Isabella' [28F]. I'm 27M. Isabella is eight months pregnant with a baby girl. Isabella and her husband 'Bill' have a two-year-old daughter. Their first daughter has the same first name and middle name as Bill's sister.

“It's no secret that Bill's parents were neglectful and that his sister cared for Bill and his brothers, and made sure the household was looked after even though she was only a child herself.

“When Isabella told us her second child is a girl Rachel (rightfully in my mind) thought the baby would be named after her since they named their first daughter after Bill's sister. When Isabella found out she was upset. She found out after people started congratulating her and Bill about 'baby Rachel'.

“Isabella and Bill were angry that Rachel 'forced' them into announcing the baby's name before the birth. They went around telling everyone the baby's name would not be Rachel which was embarrassing and hurtful to our sister Rachel after she had told everyone it would be.

“Isabella and Bill say the baby will be named with nicknames from Isabella's name. (If my sister is Isabella Katherine the baby's name will be Bella Kate. This not my sister's real name, I'm just using it as an example). Obviously Rachel is hurt and embarrassed.”

While Rachel is entirely embarrassed about the situation, Isabella seems to not care and is more concerned about how she looks.

The poster explained: “Isabella says Rachel should not have gone round telling people the baby would be named after her, even though it was a logical thing for Rachel to think. Isabella says if Rachel wants to name a baby she can get married or find a boyfriend and have her own children.”

The poster seems to be on Rachel’s side though.

They wrote: “I don't see why Isabella would name one baby after a sister-in-law while ignoring the her own sister. But Isabella says it is none of my concern and I don't understand anything about naming a baby since my wife and I don't want children. My wife agreed with Isabella but I see how upset Rachel is over this snub. Our mum (and her husband) feel the same way as I do. My dad (and his wife) agree with Isabella and Rachel was really hurt when our dad told her she needs to stop having a tantrum.

“Isabella and Bill have always been clear that they only want two children. Not everyone knows but Bill just got sterilised (I only know because I recommended the same doctor who did mine and Bill went to Bristol to see him) and Isabella wants to have it done after the baby is born.

“They will not have any other children after this. Isabella says it is no one else's concern about what she names her baby but me and some of our family think she should reconsider her snub of Rachel. There is lots of drama, and I especially don't like arguing or disagreeing with my wife. That's the worst part of this. I don't like drama and I fighting with with my wife even more than my family.”
