Hounds are hilarious. They don't get as much love as some other breeds, especially as family dogs, but they deserve all the love in the world. Their personalities (and their incredible barking volume) are totally unmatched!

If you're not sold on that, just watch this video from Thursday, June 27th, when one hound was forced to stay outside while his mom took a bathroom break in a porta-potty. He was absolutely not having it, and luckily, one woman caught it:

I know this dog doesn't belong to Tori and Louise , but I wish I could know more about this guy. He sounds like so much fun!

Tori (the human) loves to take Louise (the white dog in the video) to the dog park. She's a mixed breed pup, and she loves to run - something her yard does not really allow for. So, it's off to the park she goes, and that day, there was a hound there.

His mom needed to use the bathroom, which is totally normal, but unlike dogs... she needed a little privacy. This is a tough situation: bringing your dog into the porta-potty is not an option. All you can do is secure them nearby and try to make it quick. She didn't have to worry, though: he let her know with a very loud howl that he was still there! Thankfully, Tori and Louise were there to watch him just in case something went wrong!

Keeping Your Dog Safe at the Dog Park

When you're getting ready to take your dog to the dog park, there's a lot to consider. There are very basic safety and etiquette things; making sure your dog is vaccinated, has trimmed nails, and is muzzled if the park requires it. You should always pack things like water, a little bit of kibble, and waste bags.

However, beyond that, there are a few things to plan for if you want to be extra cautious:

    1. Keep their harness on always, and their leash on unless you're in an off-leash area.
    2. Stay close to your dog when they're off-leash.
    3. If possible, always go to the dog park with a buddy.
    4. When you need a bathroom break, designate your buddy to watch the dog. If you don't have one, find a friendly stranger and as if they'll watch them.
    5. You can clip a Tile/AirTag/GPS device onto their harness or collar, just to be safe.

This dog park only had a porta-potty, but some may even have entire dog-friendly restrooms. If you do your research, finding one may not be as hard as you think!
