‘Live’: Kelly Ripa Can’t Keep Her Hands Off Mark Consuelos’ Head After He Debuts New Buzz Cut

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos returned to Live with Kelly and Mark today (July 1) after taking time off from the show, and Consuelos has a whole new look, showing off a freshly shaved head.

As the couple sat down in their host chairs, Consuelos announced, “Do not adjust your TV screens, yes, I got my hair cut!” and he ran his hand over the new buzz cut.

“May I touch?” Ripa asked, and then she and Consuelos simultaneously let out an “Ahhhh” as she ran her hand over his head.

“It’s like a chinchilla,” Consuelos said.

“I’ve never rubbed an actual chinchilla, but I suspect this is what it feels like. We should give everyone in the audience an opportunity,” Ripa said as the audience cheered. “Look at how I just take it all for granted,” she added, still rubbing his head.

Consuelos explained, “I do this every couple years… I’ve been doing it since we got married.”

“Yeah, but you had to do it this time,” Ripa said.

“I got a role in a pilot,” Consuelos explained. “And they said ‘Can you cut it short?’ and I go ‘How short?’ … I go ‘Military’? And they go, ‘ Military.'”

“So you’re playing somebody in the military?” Ripa asked.

“No,” Consuelos replied.

“You’re so cagey about the details,” Ripa told her husband, adding, “I’m not convinced that, like your parents, you’re not in the CIA.”

“That’s just called being a man,” Consuelos laughed.

Later in the episode, Ripa read a comment from a home viewer who said that when her son and his friends had crew cuts, they referred to themselves as the “Velvet Skulls,” prompting Ripa to rub her hands all over Consuelos’ head once again. Unfortunately, no audience members were invited to do the same. At least not on-air.
