A few weeks ago during Summer Game Fest, Dragon Age: The Veilguard (newly renamed from Dragon Age: Dreadwolf) was formally unveiled by a trailer that was…well, let’s call it “unexpected.” I must admit, I was despondent upon my initial look at this trailer for what is unquestionably my favorite video game franchise. So, in my grief, I did what any self-respecting Millennial does: I dove deeply into the internet to see if I was alone in my perspective. As it turns out, I was not. This trailer was criticized by many as being “cartoony” and reminiscent of Fortnite, with a drastic shift in tone and subject to what has become more widely known as “Marvelification” (when something trades a serious or otherwise not comedic tone for one full of action and jokes, one-liners, etc.).

Entertainment wiki platform Fandom announced today that it is bringing back its annual Party for the seventh time at FLOAT at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego on July 25. The party, which is presented by Electronic Arts, features a preview event for the publisher’s upcoming game, Dragon Age: The Veilguard. The event will also feature a Dragon Age-themed scavenger hunt, among other experiences.

Following the release of The Witcher 3 REDkit, an official mod editor for the popular RPG, players have discovered plenty of cut content from the game’s ending. This includes one particularly heartwrenching scene in which Yennefer betrays the Lodge of Sorceresses to the Nilfgaardians to help Ciri.

The creator of Silent Hill, Keiichiro Toyama, and director of the upcoming Slitterhead says he won't be "unsatisfied" even if it's the last game he makes. It's been quite a while since there's been a new game from Toyama, the lead behind the very first Silent Hill, as well as titles like the Siren and Gravity Rush series. Gravity Rush 2 was the last game the director made, in fact, way back in 2017, and later this year he's set to release Slitterhead, the debut title from his newest studio Bokeh Game Studio. While Toyama has been in the industry for many years now, he's not that old, but it also doesn't mean he's not thinking about his own future as a developer. In an interview with GamesRadar, the developer spoke of his hopes going forward, and what he aims to do in the industry.
