R&B singer-songwriter Khalid will release his third studio album, Sincere , on Aug. 2 via Right Hand Music Group/RCA Records.

On Instagram , the musician called the album a “return to form,” adding, “I’m so happy to finally be back! Can’t wait to do it all over again.”

He expanded a bit more in a press statement, describing Sincere as a “combination of life experiences.”

“It takes inspiration from conversations that I have had with my fans, supporters, and the people that love me. When I listen back to this project, I hear a sound that’s so unique and represents me at my best. This album is me at 26, continuing to evolve with the knowledge that I have garnered throughout the years.”

The album announcement comes a few weeks after Khalid released the lovelorn single “Adore U,” which was produced by Digi and Justin Lucas. Earlier this year, Khalid dropped another single, “Please Don’t Fall in Love With Me.” Both tracks will appear on Sincere , though the rest of the track list hasn’t been revealed yet.

Sincere will arrive five years after Khalid’s second album, 2019’s Free Spirit . The musician had first announced a third LP back in July 2021 under the name Everything Is Changing . But while that album never arrived, Khalid did drop a mixtape, Scenic Drive , later that year, and over the course of 2022 and 2023, he shared a steady stream of singles, including “Satellite,” “Skyline,” “Softest Touch,” “Wish You Were Here” (with Lukas Graham), and “Not Alone” with Joe Jonas.

In an interview with Apple Music 1’s Eddie Francis last year, after releasing “Softest Touch,” Khalid explained his strategy of trickling out singles while continuing to work on his new album. “I wanted to get the songs out that I personally feel like are on the cusp of making the album and keep those ones that I know for a fact are going to make the album just in that chamber until I feel like the time is right,” he said. “I’ve been working on music for the past three years because I really want to be extremely particular with what sound I put out into the world when it comes to my album.”
