Simone Biles is back! The 27-year-old Olympic gold medalist will be returning to the scene at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Thanks to her incredible victory in Minneapolis at the Olympic team trials, Biles will be one of the five U.S. gymnasts on the mat at the end of July.

The 37-time Olympic and World Championship medal holder put on an epic performance during her qualifying round, finishing five points ahead of every other contender. Biles scored a two-day all-around score of 117.225.

“ I knew I wasn’t done after the performances in Tokyo. Getting back in the gym and trusting the process with Cecile and Laurent,” Biles said of her return and her coaches, Cecile and Laurent Landi. “I knew I’d be back.”

Inside Simone Biles’ winning routine at the U.S. Olympic team trials

On Sunday, June 30, Biles qualified for the Olympics thanks to her stellar routine, including her floor work, which has since gone viral. The gymnast competed along to a compilation of songs, including Taylor Swifts’ “… Ready for It?”

The world has been completely enthralled by Biles’ floor performance, including the one-and-only Swift.

Swift took her thoughts to X, formerly Twitter, after watching and rewatching Biles’ performance. “ Watched this so many times and still unready. She’s ready for it tho👏👏👏🥇🇺🇸❤”

All about Simone Biles’ Olympics return

Although Biles is only 27 years old, the gymnast will be the oldest member of the team this year. Not only that, but Biles is also the oldest U.S. gymnast to make it to the Olympics since the 1950s. But Biles is used to breaking records.

Biles previously competed in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio and the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. The gymnast will be appearing in her third Olympics this summer as she heads to Paris as a headliner for her team.

For all her success, Biles hasn't had it easy in the spotlight. The four-time gold medalist dropped out of the Tokyo Olympics after dealing with immense amounts of stress and a condition called the “twisties.”

While many were upset with her leaving the Games early, Biles knew it was the best thing for her and her mental health. “ Walking away from the Olympic Games was a win in itself . I know a lot of people thought I failed because they expected me to go out with five or six medals, but walking out of it was my biggest win.”

She explained later on why she felt she needed to put herself first, but now the gymnast is ready to get back on the mat and bring her team to victory.

Who else will be joining Simone Biles at the 2024 Olympics?

Biles will not be the only familiar face on the U.S. Olympic gymnastics roster. Suni Lee , the reigning all-around Olympic champion, will also be returning to the 2024 games. Joining the gymnastics superstars will be Jordan Chiles , Jade Carey and Hezly Rivera .

There are also two traveling replacement athletes, Joscelyn Roberson and Leanne Wong .

Biles may be the oldest U.S. gymnast on this year’s team, but she only takes that as a chance to mentor the younger athletes. The gymnast has officially reached “Grandma” status as she said, “ I used to call Aly (Raisman) grandma , and I’ve surpassed that, so I love you, Aly, and I love these girls, so I’m gonna take care of them in Paris.”

Despite this not being many of the competitors’ first time at the Olympics, Biles is ready to become a mentor for her fellow teammates. “I've been in their exact same spot, I know exactly how they're feeling and if I can be a mentor and a guide, then that's what I'm gonna do to lighten the load.”

Of course, Biles and her teammates are all competing for the same goal at the Olympics. But she isn’t worried about the outcome.“But that’s what makes Team USA Team USA. We have grit, we have power, we have grace. We kind of have everything… I feel like a little bit of a redemption tour ,” she said. “In Tokyo, we all didn’t have our best performances, so we’re excited to go out there and kill it.”
