Sonic beats McDonald’s, Taco Bell, and Burger King with new ‘Fun.99’ value menu – says food shouldn’t ‘break the bank’

SONIC has launched a value menu to satisfy foodies’ cravings without breaking the bank.

The menu hosts a variety of sweet and savory items for $1.99 each.

Fast food chain Sonic announced a new permanent addition to its overall menu on Monday, per a news release.

The new value menu, dubbed the Fun.99 menu, features a variety of items for $1.99:

• Quarter Pound Double Cheeseburger
• Chili Cheese Coney
• Bacon Ranch Queso Wrap
• Southwest Crunch Queso Wrap
• Small Tots
• Any of the 12 flavors of Sonic Shakes in a 16-ounce size

The stars of the value menu are the two Queso Wraps, which are brand new and now available at all US Sonic locations.

The Bacon Ranch Queso Wrap is a warm flour tortilla filled with chicken, bacon, cheddar cheese, ranch, and white queso.

The Southwest Crunch Queso Wrap features chicken, Southwest sauce, tortilla strips, cheddar cheese, and white queso in a tortilla.

Sonic nicknamed the value menu in honor of its new campaign focused on “choosing fun over the monotony of other fast-food options.”

“Now more than ever, guests are focused on affordable food options, but they shouldn’t have to settle for the same old, tired discounts or boring meals,” began Ryan Dickerson, Sonic’s chief marketing officer.

“Many restaurant brands are touting a lot of recycled ideas with limited options. At SONIC, we wanted to do something different – something fun – so we focused on variety, which is why we’re introducing the new $1.99 Menu, or what we like to call the FUN.99 Menu.

“The FUN.99 Menu is all about choice and fun, whether you want any of our dozen shake flavors, a chili cheese coney, or our iconic tots as a midday snack – it’s all there for just $1.99.”

The goal of the value menu is to emphasize that “delicious food doesn’t have to break the bank.”

RIVAL FOOD DEALS

Sonic isn’t the only fast food chain that has launched food deals .

Last month, McDonald’s announced its limited-time $5 Meal Deal .

First available to fans on June 25, the meal comes with four items: a McDouble or McChicken, a four-piece Chicken McNuggets, small fries, and a small soft drink.

Burger King’s $5 Your Way Meal:

• Whopper Junior, Chicken Junior, or Bacon Cheeseburger
• Fries
• Four-piece chicken nuggets
• Soft drink

Taco Bell also hopped on the meal deal trend with the launch of its $7 Luxe Cravings Box on June 27.

The new combo meal comes with several craveable items, including a Chalupa Supreme, Beefy Five-Layer Burrito, Double Stacked Taco, chips and nacho cheese sauce, and a medium drink.

Taco Bell shared that the cravings box costs 55% less than if a customer bought the items individually.

Additionally, Burger King partook in the deal craze with its $5 Your Way Meal .

Debuted last month, the meal deal comes with one of three sandwiches, fries, four-piece chicken nuggets, and a soft drink.
