The New York Jets have had better Junes. Aaron Rodgers missing minicamp was the national media story of the month. However, another star missing the event has gotten at least one analyst to open the door to a trade.

Writing for Bleacher Report , analyst Joe Tansey put new addition Haason Reddick’s name on deck to join the trade block.

“Reddick is in search of a new contract, but he may not get that with the Jets, and if his situation drags into the regular season, he may leave through a trade,” he wrote.

The Jets’ new pass rusher missed mandatory workouts due to his contract situation earlier this off-season. Most holdouts wait to act up until after they’ve spent some time with their new franchise. In other words, they prefer to hit the ground running.

Reddick instead hit the ground sitting.

If contract negotiations don’t pick up soon, a trade could materialize, according to Tansey. He refused to write off a trade in the “next few years,” regardless of what happens in 2024.

Haason Reddick tests Jets’ all-in mentality

Reddick is set to turn 30 this year, according to Pro Football Reference . As with most players around this time in their careers, he hopes to get one last big bite of the apple.

According to Spotrac , however, he is equally in danger of being forced to hit the free-agent market in 2025.

That would be a problem for Reddick, as he will be attempting to sell a new team on his abilities as an age-31 player. It is easier for the pass rusher to get more money now as an in-house player than to attempt to win over someone new.

Additionally, adding job security deeper into their 30s is always a goal of players young enough to feel like they have gas in the tank but historically old enough to begin a decline.

The Jets are already all-in, but extending the pass rusher for one-to-three more years presents some risk on the back end. However, if the team truly is all-in, that shouldn’t matter.

Of course, it all depends on what the pass rusher is asking from the franchise. He earned at least 11 sacks in each of the last three seasons. From a production standpoint, he appears to have some leverage.

Will that be enough for the Jets?
