Sibling relationships are complicated. Some days you're best friends and others, not so much—just ask one St. Bernard named Barney whose new little sister Betty is on his last nerve.

In mid-June, Barney and Betty's humans ( @stbernardsbarneyandbetty ) shared the hilarious clip showing the first morning Barney and Betty spent together—and Barney isn't into it. But Betty's adorable persistence is impossible to resist!

In the clip captioned, "The first morning day 1 of Betty, Barney is not impressed," it's clear good boy Barney is over this new sister thing before it ever begins. For more than a minute, Betty tries her darnedest to get her new big brother to pay attention to her. She bows in submission and barks for play while Barney looks around, through, over, and past her as if she's invisible. But Betty does not give up and eventually, Barney lays down while his precocious sibling decides she'll take what she can get and lays near.

"Barney says, Mommy what is this little thing?" one person wrote. "Soooo cute, beautiful dogs. They will be friends in no time," another said. "Won’t make eye contact! Can’t see you," another joked.

Barney and Betty may not be best friends right off the bat, but based on how patient big brother seems, we think they'll be close in no time.

What Is The Best Age To Introduce a Second Puppy?

Getting your dog a dog takes a little research and a lot of patience. Quaker Hills Veterinary Hospital advises when adding a second dog , it's important to consider your first dog's breed, age, temperament and social skills. Choosing the opposite sex dog typically works out better as they're not as likely to fight as much, and you should also take into account any behavioral issues that need worked out before a new dog should be introduced.

Likewise, introductions should be done with care. In Barney's case, there may actually be a reason he's not interested in his new sister's antics.

"A adult dog may avoid the puppy for a few days. In the wild if a puppy yelped, mama would come running," the site says in part. "Adult dogs sometimes avoid a puppy until they are pretty sure no mama is going to come running. At that point, a stable adult will begin age-appropriate interaction with the puppy."

No matter when you decide to add a second dog to the house just remember: the first few days don't dictate how their relationship will be forever. Like Barney and Betty, they'll find their way (eventually)!
