Ralf Rangnick's Austria take on Turkey in the Round of 16, with a place in the quarterfinals up for grabs for one of these surprise packages at Euro 2024.

Austria have been one of the most impressive sides of the tournament so far, breezing past Poland and upsetting the Netherlands on the final matchday in a tough Group D. They were narrowly defeated by France in the opening game, but still managed to finish top of the pool ahead of Les Bleus.

Turkey also picked up two wins in the group stage, as they beat Georgia and then Czechia to reach this stage. Vincenzo Montella's side have been aggressive in their approach and in their last game against the Czechs they collected 11 yellow cards.

Austria vs. Turkey lineups & team news

Austria head coach Ralf Rangnick will be forced into at least one change from the starting 11 that faced the Netherlands, as Wolfsburg winger Patrick Wimmer is suspended. It's expected that Konrad Laimer will come in to replace the 23-year-old.

Marcel Sabitzer has so far run the show for Austria and he is set to join Christoph Baumgartner behind Marko Arnautovic , who may lead the line.

Austria predicted: (4-2-3-1, right to left): Pentz (GK) — Posch, Lienhart, Wober, Prass — Seiwald, Grillitsch — Laimer, Baumgartner, Sabitzer — Arnautovic.

    Injured: None
    Suspended: Wimmer

Vincenzo Montella will have to reshuffle two starting positions as captain Hakan Calhanoglu and Samet Akaydin are suspended after being shown their second yellow cards of the tournament against Czechia.

Arda Guler may only be 19 years old but he has been vital to Turkey in the way they build attacks and he's combined well with Baris Alper Yilmaz , who is expected to start up top.

Turkey predicted (4-2-3-1, right to left): Gunok (GK) — Muldur, Demiral, Bardakci, Kadioglu — Yuksek, Yokuslu — Kahveci, Guler, Yildiz — Yilmaz.

    Injured: None
    Suspended: Calhanoglu, Akaydin

    Austria vs. Turkey prediction

    • Score prediction: Austria 2-1 Turkey

Turkey have incredible fighting spirit but Rangnick's tactical ability has been on full show at this tournament so far and he'll no doubt get Austria in shape to advance to the quarterfinals.

Austria matches so far have averaged a little over three goals per game but after their 1-0 defeat to France on the opening matchday, they picked up two wins to close out the group stages.
