Michael J. Fox Gives Stellar Viral Guitar Performance With Coldplay! See the Incredible Video

In a crossover we didn’t know we needed, famed actor Michael J. Fox joined British rock band Coldplay during a performance at the 2024 Glastonbury Festival, and the incredible viral video is leaving everyone in awe.

The 63-year-old actor, known for his role in 1985’s Back to the Future , joined the famed group led by Chris Martin to provide guitar for one of their hit songs, “Fix You.”

Martin introduced the actor by saying, “ With his Chuck Berry riff and the way he punched Biff: ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Michael J. Fox,” referencing prime movie moments we love to look back on.

After their performance, Martin gave credit to the actor, saying, “The main reason we’re in a band is because of Back to the Future . So thank you to Michael, our hero.”

In a post shared to his Instagram in the wake of his performance, Fox penned:

“ My team : Lauren, John and Jeff and Steve . Glastonbury all the love and thanks to the @coldplay team who took such great care of us. And many thanks to Chris, Will, Johnny, Guy and Phil. Oh yeah in case you were wondering…it was f*cking mind blowing. There is a time for every band and a band for every time. This is @coldplay ’s time. More pics to come.”

Michael J. Fox and his battle with Parkinson’s disease

In 1991, at just 29 years old, Fox learned he had young onset Parkinson’s Disease after noticing a tremor that started in his pinky finger. Despite this jarring diagnosis, he didn’t let it derail his career, as he continued to act in the years to come.

Of his illness, Fox told The Guardian in February, “ It just is what it is . It didn’t defeat me. I wish it was a heroic thing. I’m not saying: ‘Yeah! Bring it, bring it!’ I hate it. It sucks. It’s a piece of s—. It’s tough to get up in the morning and keep going. But I have a beautiful family and this office with trophies.”

Today, the actor is a tireless advocate for a cure, having founded The Michael J. Fox Foundation in 2000.

“It just became my whole purpose,” he said of finding a cure after his diagnosis, not necessarily for himself, but for those in the future. “And then that was the answer. I didn’t have time to think about it. And Parkinson’s has been by far the most exciting thing – much more than my career.”

In a 2023 interview with Variety , Fox  gave a glimpse into his everyday life, saying, “ I’m still happy to join the day and be a part of things.”

“I just enjoy the little math problems of existence. I love waking up and figuring that stuff out and at the same time being with my family. My problem is I fall down. I trip over things and fall down and break things. And that’s part of having this. But I hope that, and I feel that, I won’t break as many bones tomorrow. So that’s being optimistic.”
