NEW YORK (PIX11) – State Troopers rescued a dog tied to a light pole on the Southern State Parkway early Monday morning, along with a note explaining the pup’s condition.

Officials found the 4-year-old female Mastiff around 5:30 a.m. near Exit 21 tied to a pole with a food bowl next to her, according to the New York State Police.

“This is ‘Roxi,’ a trained American Bullmastiff. She is four years old. She has been fed and given a flea bath, she may still have issues with them. See that she gets good care,” read the note found with Roxi.

State police transferred the dog to the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter for evaluation, and discovered the dog is not microchipped.
