We're really feeling inspired by @sharpesouthernhome's idea, which involved a few inexpensive pieces of shiplap board and some 1x4's. The hardest part of this whole project was likely the cutting and hanging of the wood pieces, but after watching her how-to video we feel like even that is manageable.

The OP topped her design off with some handy knobs, which she then used to hang the towels in her bathroom, but this can be completed with or without that feature, depending on how (and where) you want to use it.

In fact, this would make a darling entryway addition, which could be the perfect dropping area for your coats and backpacks!
