Candidates speak to KOAM as they vie for LaTurner's spot (FULL INTERVIEWS)

(KOAM) - Hopefuls to fill a congressional seat in Kansas shared their thoughts with KOAM on local and national topics.

In April, Congressman Jake LaTurner announced he will not be seeking reelection for Kansas' 2nd congressional district, which includes southeast Kansas. ( Read his statement here )

Ahead of the August primaries, KOAM spoke with seven hopefuls for the congressional spot. There was no time limit put on the candidates as they answered a list of questions. Topics included:

• Why they are running for the congressional spot
• What they find important, locally and nationally
• Economy
• Legal and illegal immigration
• Abortion
• Security and reliability of federal elections
