The NBL Blitz is returning to the Gold Coast.

After what was regarded as a largely successful Blitz in 2023, the 2024 edition of the NBL's annual preseason event will remain in the Gold Coast, set to run from September 7-14.

The Blitz provides an opportunity for NBL teams to play multiple preseason games against one another ahead of the start of the regular season. It also acts as a hub for NBA scouts to descend into Australia to see all 10 teams in one location; more than 40 representatives from 27 NBA teams attended the 2023 Blitz.

The general consensus from the NBA representatives who attended the Blitz in 2023 expressed a preference for the event to remain in the Gold Coast, sources told ESPN.

"The Blitz provides the growing and passionate participation base here on the Coast another chance to vote with their feet and show their appetite for more permanent NBL content on the Gold Coast," the NBL's COO, Vince Crivelli, said.

"We are excited to continue our journey with all our partners and stakeholders on the development of basketball in the Gold Coast region. We are committed to maximising the potential of the NBL in the city and will keep evolving our conversations with the relevant stakeholders.

"It can't be underestimated how important the Blitz is for the global basketball market, particularly the NBA teams in their planning and preparation for the 2025 draft cycle.

"The Next Stars program is as strong as ever, and the Blitz gives NBA teams a chance to assess the incredible talent in the program."

Games will be played at both the Carrara Indoor Sports Stadium and Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre.

"We look forward to welcoming the exciting and competitive NBL Blitz back to the Gold Coast," Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate said. "After last year's hugely successful event, it will be even bigger and better in 2024."

The winner of the NBL Blitz is awarded the Loggins-Bruton Cup -- Melbourne United won the event in 2023 -- while the Ray Borner Medal is given to the tournament's Most Valuable Player.
