Rapper Cardi B reprimanded her team mid-way through her performance at the BET Experience show over the weekend.

The Love & Hip Hop alum, 31, initially seemed pumped to put on a top-tier show at the pre- BET Awards concert on Friday, but her team's mistakes affected her attitude. So much so that she paused to scold her team for “messing up” her music. "For production, ya'll messing up my pyros," Cardi said as her fans roared. "The fan is off, ya'll messing up my music. F--k am I paying ya'll p---y n---as for?”

She added: “What am I paying y’all n----s for? Put my f--king fan on, b---h. Let’s go."

Cardi calling out her team sparked a lot of online conversation. Some were disappointed with how the New York-bred superstar treated her staff, making it known on X, formerly Twitter.

“Wow cardi calls her production team Pu__y Ni__as and B__ches while performing a BET Experience ! THIS WAS A BIT UNCALLED FOR AND OVERBOARD yikes,” one wrote on the social media platform.

Another added, “I understand that people have families to feed, but I wished we lived in a better world because no one should ever be disrespected like this in a workplace environment/at all. This principle isn’t exclusive to less glamorous positions. Celebrities included.”

Cardi replied to the abovementioned critic, telling them to “shut up” as she doubled down on how she treated her staff, especially after she paid her production team $350K upfront.

“Girl shut up.. when you do a show you don’t pay after you pay before.. I paid 350,000 up front the least they could do is get my pyro ready and turn the fans on…,” the six-time BET Award winner wrote in a retweet.

“At the end of the day that money is not returnable… don’t half-a-- my show because you comfortable when I definitely don’t half-a-- when it comes to paying.. don’t tell me how to talk to anybody when you the same ho talkin bout my kids and other deceased parents for no reason.”

Not everyone shamed Cardi for how she spoke to her team. A few happened to be very understanding.

“Cardi is right. People just mad that a woman is telling a production crew whos already been paid upfront btw the way shit is and that she didn't say it like a ‘nice female.’ Well guess what when you in certain businesses you can't be nice period as a female because they'll take it as walk-overable so it is what it is…,” one defended on X.

Cardi was appreciative of the compassionate comment, replying in a retweet: “Thank you for understanding…”

She explained in the same retweet that part of her frustration was because she had spent “$100K on pyro[technics].” The entertainer was unable to use them because “the production team failed to have the fire marshall go over safety" with her team.

Cardi also admitted that she had “spent days” rehearsing and learning choreography for her BET performance just for her team “ to have the wrong mix.”

From Cardi’s point of view, her annoyance with her team seemed justified.
