LAWRENCE COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A family is navigating the impossible after a deadly crash over the weekend in Lawrence County. Two people died and two children were rushed to the hospital.

On Saturday, 31-year-old Caitlin Price and her two daughters were leaving the track after her son finished his Motocross race in Westpoint. Motocross racing is a popular pastime in Tennessee. Caitlin’s husband Bryon and her son stayed behind to load up the bike.

The girls should have beaten the boys home.

“He came home to his children and wife not being there. He just had River with him,” Bryon’s boss, Juan Alvarez said. “It wasn’t before long that the car rental place called — she was in a rental car — and notified him that there was an accident and they’re gonna need some information.”

It was a life-changing phone call.

“They’re a really close family. Bryon called me and asked for the upcoming week off,” Alvarez said. ” I asked why, I said, ‘Is everything okay? What’s going on? Yeah, you can definitely have the week off.’ He told me that his wife was dead.”

The wreck happened at the intersection of Highway 43 and Highway 64 in Lawrence County. Authorities said that a truck driven by Hector Ortiz turned in front of Caitlin’s oncoming car. She and Ortiz were killed.

Her two daughters were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Alvarez said that Caitlin will be remembered as a loving mom. He added that the community has stepped up to support the family.

“I just hope to see these kids through it,” Alvarez said. “He’s got a long road ahead of him. People are here for him.”
