OK, I admit this is a tough one. I mean, the greatest guitar album of the '60s is obviously The Transformed Man by William Shatner. And the best guitar album of the '80s is clearly The Return of Bruno by Bruce Willis.

What was the greatest guitar album of the 1970s?

In a new interview with Germany's Moshpit Passion, VOLBEAT frontman Michael Poulsen spoke about his new death metal band ASINHELL, which released its debut album, "Impii Hora" (Latin for "Ungodly Hour"),last September via Metal Blade. Regarding how the idea for ASINHELL came about, Michael said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Well, the thing is when I formed VOLBEAT, that was the idea to mix a lot of different styles that I couldn't mix in death metal when I had my first death metal band back in the days, DOMINUS. So, that was kind of a break, and that was just on pause doing death metal. So I grew up with all these '50s melodic tunes and [was] listening to a lot of different styles of music, and I wanted to combine that in one band and that became VOLBEAT. And VOLBEAT became extremely busy on the road and in studios and there was no time for a second band. So, I guess, like so many other people, they had the time to reflect on a lot of stuff during the pandemic, and I had the time to sit down and actually open up for the dark coffin of death metal riffs again. So that's what I did. And my good friend L.G. [Petrov] from ENTOMBED sadly passed away. And he kind of gave me a push at the very end to start this project. I'm already sure that people already know the story, or else Google it because I've been talking a lot about it. But he kind of gave me the push to get started. And here we are."

Eddie Cochran’s career has always been more celebrated in the UK than America. The guitar picker who could sing and write was trying to revisit the success he had experienced with hits such as “Summertime Blues” and “C’mon Everybody” when he found he was having better luck in the UK. Just as Buddy Holly had fallen from the top of the charts before his untimely death in February 1959, Eddie Cochran was struggling to land a hit single. He was spending time in the recording studio playing guitar on other people’s sessions and experimenting with different styles of music as a Liberty Records recording artist.

In a recent interview with Meltdown of Detroit's WRIF radio station, W.A.S.P. frontman Blackie Lawless was asked about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the band's long-awaited follow-up to 2015's "Golgotha" album. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "We still are [working on it]. What happened was when we came back from the European tour, I had to have surgery and stuff, about a year prior to that, we had been working on a lot of new stuff. And when I came back, I've had a long time to go through those early demos, of what we have been working on. Listening to it with fresh ears, some of it's really good, but there's not enough of it yet where I would be comfortable in saying, 'Okay, this is finished, and let's go with it.' I'd like to go back and visit the drawing board, so to speak, and see what else is there. Because even from a two-year period of when we started working on that before to where we are right now, you're gonna gain so much, you're gonna grow so much."

It's difficult. But now having [guitarist] Ben [Weinman] in the band, [drummer] Jay [Weinberg] in the band…. One of the first things Jay did after we did a couple shows, he's just, like, going, 'Dude, I wanna fucking make a record.'
