A major update has arrived on former WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Natalya’s contract status with WWE. Natalya was last seen on the main roster on the June 3 edition of Raw. She competed against Kiana James, who was drafted to the red brand during night one of the Draft on April 26, 2024, on SmackDown. James’ debut saw her get a notable victory over the veteran WWE star.

Sonya Deville sought out Natalya backstage after Natalya’s loss, inquiring if she wanted to discuss the match. Natalya, however, hinted at a potential departure with her cryptic remark, “Enough is enough; it’s time for a change.”

This fueled speculation among fans about whether the veteran wrestler is planning to leave the promotion after decades, especially since reports surfaced that her contract is nearing its end. While the promotion has offered her a new contract, Natalya has yet to sign it. Natalya’s use of her uncle Owen Hart’s catchphrase “Enough is enough; it’s time for a change” has led many fans to believe she might leave WWE to debut in the Owen Hart Tournament at AEW.

However, despite not appearing in the Owen Hart Tournament, the tournament is already underway with its full participant list revealed. It seems unlikely that the former SmackDown women’s champion is leaving WWE upon contract expiration, according to the latest reports.

WWE hopeful in Natalya’s contract renewal

The latest reports from Fightful Select have provided a significant update on Natalya’s contract status. The recent edition of Raw took place in Boston; however, it did not feature Natalya amidst her contract nearing expiry. Reports state that negotiations for a contract extension are reportedly underway, with WWE initially confident about retaining her. However, recent progress remains unclear, as WWE has kept discussions tightly under wraps.

With WWE confident in the former SmackDown Women’s Champion contract renewal, it will be interesting to see what plans the promotion has for her next.
