Whether it’s a human or an animal friend, there’s so much joy in welcoming a new member into your family. That said, it’s common for siblings to have mixed feelings about the addition of a new sibling. Similarly, pets can feel the same way… about other pets . Elizabeth MB’s Golden Retriever is the perfect example after getting a new cockatiel friend.

Although the two are different in many ways, the bird seems to love having a dog in his life. The dog, on the other hand, might not feel the same way… at least just yet. This can be seen in a hilarious viral video, which you can watch for yourself below. Here, you’ll see the cockatiel singing away, having the time of his life while resting on his sibling’s head. It seems that the same can’t be said about the golden retriever.

There’s just something about this adorable dog’s blank stare that screams, “Mother, what have you done to this family?” In fact, even Elizabeth shares in the caption that, “Someone didn’t have a choice in the new pet for the family.”

This Golden Retriever Still Isn’t Sure How to Feel About Her New Bird Sibling…

Turns out, this cockatiel is quite a fan of putting on performances for his family. He’s particularly fond of the song, If You’re Happy and You Know It . In another video, we see that the bird chose to wake up his sister with his sweet melodies … not that she asked for them, of course.

I have a feeling these videos resonate deeply with anyone who has a sibling of their own, no matter if they’re usually the bird or dog in these situations. Still, just like human siblings, there’s a growing love between these creatures as well. This can be seen in Elizabeth’s reply to being asked if her dog ever gets any peace.

“Ninety-nine percent of the time,” she explains , “but that 1% is filled with love and If You’re Happy and You Know It .”
