In New Jersey, employers are required to tell the state when they plan to layoff or release 50 or more workers from any one location.

The notices, Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notifications — or WARN notices — must be filed no less than 90 days from the termination date.

Some employers file a single WARN notice to cover staff reductions on several dates.

Based on notices filed through June 1, more than 2,000 workers will be let go by the end of the year.

What companies are laying off workers?
