You may be worried about everything you have to stock up on if you’re trying to save money on groceries for your Fourth of July barbecue. But you don’t want to compromise cost for taste.
This means you may want to search for the perfect hot dog that tastes great but won't bust your grocery budget.
Check out these brands that are favorites of Reddit users to see if they’re good enough to serve your guests.
Nathan’s is famous for its annual Hot Dog Eating Contest in Brooklyn on the Fourth of July, and you can find out what’s so good about them by picking up some at your local grocery store.
“I've found that they taste best when grilled,” said one Redditor, while another said they eat Nathan’s without condiments because “they are just that tasty.”
Another hot dog brand that gets high marks from Reddit users is Hebrew National, which are 100% Kosher and made with premium meat cuts.
“Hebrew Nationals are a solid Fourth of July barbecue choice,” said one Redditor. “The flavor is just like a stadium dog.”
3. Sabrett

Check out Sabrett Hot Dogs if you want to try an authentic New York City-style dog. In fact, the dogs are a favorite of hot dog vendors across the boroughs.
“The Sabrett casing makes it, and no matter if it’s in the oven or the grill, it’s the best hot dog you will eat at home,” explained one Redditor.
If you don’t mind spending a little more to get a great hot dog, check out Boar’s Head uncured beef frankfurters to try something new.
One Redditor said Boar’s Head had become one of their recent favorite options. “Pricy and I wasn’t sure I’d see the value, but they’re really good.”
5. Kirkland Signature Beef Hot Dogs

Costco is well known for its $1.50 hot dog and drink deal at the food court, but you can also buy the Kirkland Signature Beef Hot Dogs in the store to take home.
They’re also a good option to serve to guests at your next barbecue. “I made them for a cookout, and my guest thought they were great,” said one Redditor.
6. Fork in the Road Pasture-Raised Uncured Beef Hot Dogs

Whole Foods has hot dogs that may cost more but could be a good option if you don’t mind the price.
One Redditor described Fork in the Road Pasture-Raised Uncured Beef Hot Dogs at the store as “really expensive, but amazing.”
Feltman’s is another good option, but it may be hard to find at a typical grocery store or in areas outside of the New York market. You can order them online through the company’s website with deli-style hot mustard.
A Redditor described the Feltman’s hot dog as “thicker and juicier than Nathan's with a firmer casing that gives it a great snap.”
8. Koegel’s

Another regional hot dog you may want to search for is made by Koegel’s and is available in the Great Lakes region.
“Koegel’s Viennas are the best dogs on earth, and it's not even close,” one Redditor said, while another said they can’t leave Michigan now that they know Koegel’s are only sold in a few states in the Great Lakes.
Koegel’s and other hot dogs in Michigan are popular for serving Coney Island-style with chili and onions.
9. Vienna Beef

If you want to try a different regional option, grab some Vienna Beef hot dogs for an authentic Chicago-style hot dog.
“Vienna is the go-to for Chicago-style dogs. They're pretty great,” said one Redditor.
Chicago hot dogs fans, however, will adamantly discourage you from putting ketchup on a Vienna Beef Hot Dog.
Check out Sahlen’s, another New York hot dog with great taste — but you may have to head upstate to Buffalo to find them. The good news is that Sahlen’s can be found in some grocery stores outside of Buffalo as well, or you can order them from the company’s website.
One Redditor said, “They char up great,” while another mentioned they were able to find them in a Publix in Florida and have become a family favorite.
