Wicked Gets New Release Date

Gladiator II may have tried to run from Wicked 's opening weekend by moving its release date up in Europe, but it can't hide in the US because "Wicked-iator" is back on and better than ever, as Wicked 's director Jon M. Chu revealed on social media that his film will hit theaters five days earlier.

Originally eyeing a Thanksgiving release, Wicked will now land on November 22, the same days as Ridley Scott's Gladiator II .

Fans immediately ran to make as many memes as they could, coming up with every imaginable joke to celebrate the double bill of the year.

Wicked 's first trailer is out now and is absolutely magical , introducing us to Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande as Elphaba and Glinda, the two witches originated by Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth in 2003.

The Broadway musical has been in talks to head to the big screen for years, but Chu was the one who finally made it happen.

Now, what surprises await us will be uncovered on November 22 when Wicked floats into theaters.
