Here in the US, a heat wave has already swept a large part of the country—and it's not even July yet! With temperatures climbing into the triple digits, some joke about frying eggs or baking cookies in their sweltering cars.
However, this method for cooking hot dogs differs from any I've seen before. Whether it's effective remains unknown, but one thing is sure: it will have you cracking up!
Check out this rather ingenious technique in a video shared on June 26:
This is a priceless idea! Creator @ flavorgod reveals that with temperatures as hot as an air fryer outside, we don't even need to wait to get home from the store to cook our dogs. LOL! Instead, if we have an antenna on our car, we can use it as a skewer to hold our dogs as we travel home. Can you imagine driving along the highway and seeing this car pull up alongside you? I might drive off the road with hysterical laughter! Adding to the intrigue of this idea, they tell us they missed the opportunity to put the buns on the roof for toasting. So, make a note for yourself to ensure you take advantage of this critical component. Even better, depending on how many bugs these hot dogs pick up on the way home, they might have double the protein by the time you sit down for dinner.
If the idea of exhaust and bugs is not appealing, thankfully, there are many other ways to prepare hot dogs . They can be boiled, air-fried, over-roasted, or sliced in half and cooked in a skillet. You can even try toasting them like marshmallows over open fire. If all else fails, they can be microwaved or eaten cold as they are fully cooked. If you plan on feeding a crowd, you can even try a make-ahead method, which uses a slow cooker.
People shared their hilarious thoughts. Viewer @JohnKimble responded, "You can get some char by stuffing them in the tailpipe and revving the engine." That could work. Viewer @JarlJimbo remarked, "Skeety weenies. Make sure to squeeze when you remove them to get all the bugs." Who knows? They might add a little extra flavor and crunch. Viewer @ElizabethD.Moore reported, "A couple of years ago, I put some cookie dough on a cookie sheet on my dash by the windshield. The car smelled glorious, and I had cookies. But it also melted a couple of wires in my car." Using the car as an oven or stove comes with its risks.
Although this method may be unconventional, it saves electricity and prevents you from heating the house. While it may also have a few downsides, it is a pretty genius idea.
