Unless you’re a seasoned chef or burgeoning culinary enthusiast, figuring out what’s necessary in the kitchen can be a bit overwhelming. You’ve got high-ticket gadgets like vacuum sealers and sous vides, essentials like pots and pans, and one-off items like peelers and avocado keepers. Regardless of your skillset, though, there are a few must-haves that make creating gastronomic masterpieces in the kitchen just a little easier.

Aside from a quality set of knives , cutting boards and serving utensils (all of which are non-negotiable items), you might also benefit from the addition of something a little more humble and unassuming, like the often-overlooked colander. Not only is it incredibly versatile depending on what you’re cooking up, but it’s a relatively inexpensive tool to add to your culinary arsenal. You can use it to drain pasta and wash fruits and veggies, and you can even use it to steam rice if you’ve got a stainless steel one. Who knew? Thankfully, if you have yet to purchase your own, you can always run to your nearest Aldi to grab one that not only functions well, but looks cute, too!

    Crofton Bowl and Colander Set

    Aldi

The incredibly vibrant Crofton Bowl and Colander Set made its debut this week, and we’re obsessed with both colorways. Available in a gorgeous green and orange or blue and light blue hue, the set includes a 160.28-fluid ounce colander and a 4.74-liter bowl. The bowl features a handy non-slip base, while the colander easily nests into the bowl for storage when not in use. Additionally, the colander features a decent amount of holes that allow water to easily drain off while the bowl can catch any stray pasta or rice pieces that might slip through the crack.

Even better than the functionality is the incredible price of just $4.99 for the entire set! In comparison, most colanders cost upwards of $13, and they don’t even come with an included bowl. Now that sounds like our kind of deal. Of course, if you happen to miss out on this one, we’re sure Aldi has something even better coming along right behind it.
