SPENCER, Iowa (KCAU) — Clay County has activated a Disaster Recovery Fund after the recent flooding.
“As the heart of our community, the Clay County Community Foundation is stepping forward with a Disaster Recovery Fund to support the extensive clean-up and rebuilding efforts,” says Terri Batschelet, Director of the Clay County Community Foundation. “We urgently need your help to bring hope and restoration to our friends, families, and neighbors who have lost so much.”
According to a press release from Clay County, more than 2,500 homes have been impacted, more than 1,000 homes are irreparable, and one person lost their life as a result of the flood.
“We are calling on all who hold Clay County and its neighboring communities dear to their hearts to join us in this crucial time of need,” says Batschelet. “We have activated the Clay County Community Foundation Disaster Recovery Fund, which directly supports and supplements the critical work of existing nonprofit, local, state, and federal programs supporting the recovery and rebuilding effort.”
Donations to the Clay County Community Foundation Disaster Recovery Fund will aid local organizations in:
Providing emergency shelter and necessities to displaced families.
