New cars often come with a manufacturer’s warranty, which covers defects or damage caused by regular use for a specified time or up to a specific mileage. Coverage depends on the manufacturer, which you should consider when shopping for a new car .

According to Kelley Blue Book, coverage offered by a typical new car warranty, also called a bumper-to-bumper warranty or a comprehensive car warranty, is three years and 36,000 miles. This means that the warranty will cover necessary repairs within the first three years of car ownership or the first 36,000 miles, whichever comes first.

There are additional types of car warranties, such as the powertrain warranty, which covers mechanical parts that move that car and last several years. These usually last longer than the basic new car warranty, but it usually costs between $115 and $150 per month, whereas the cost of a basic warranty is built into the cost of the vehicle, according to USA Today.

If you’re on the hunt for a new car that offers some of the best warranties, you’re in luck. Using data from U.S. News & World Report and USA Today, here are the five car brands that come with pretty impressive coverage.
