Katy Perry ’s reign as a judge on American Idol has officially come to an end , which means they’ve got a seat to fill for the show’s 23rd season. Exactly who that person will be has yet to be announced but Luke Bryan has got a few nominations of his own.

“I’ve said several names. I think P!nk has been in the talks, Miley Cyrus has been in the talks, Meghan Trainor has been in the talks,” Bryan shared in a new interview with Billboard .

The country star, who judged season 22 alongside Perry, Lionel Richie and host Ryan Seacrest , added, “It’s been interesting. It’s been something Disney been really tightlipped about with me and Lionel and Ryan.”

The “One Margarita” singer also revealed that he doesn’t even know if he’ll be asked back.

“We currently haven’t heard what the story is on who’s coming back, and if Lionel and I are coming back,” he said. “I think Disney is just trying to figure out what they want to do and we’re just kind of sitting back and waiting until they decide.”

Whoever does end up replacing the “Firework” singer will have some big shoes to fill, as Bryan says Perry was “really perfect for that job.”

“I think they’re just working real hard to find somebody that can really come in and do the job that Katy did,” he added.

Bryan, Perry and Richie all joined American Idol as judges in 2018 for season 16, when the show was rebooted on ABC after a two year hiatus.

Back in February, during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! , Perry unveiled that season 22 would most likely be her last as she’s going to focus more on her own music.

“This fall, in September, I'm going to be doing this huge music festival in Brazil called Rock in Rio… so I think this will probably be my last season for Idol ,” she told viewers.

“I mean, I love Idol so much. It's connected me with the heart of America, but I need to feel that pulse of my own beat,” she explained.

The “California Gurls” singer didn’t completely shut the door on the beloved singing competition show though.

“I love the show so much but I want to go and see the world and maybe bring new music. Maybe I’ll come back if they have me one day,” Perry said.
