MADISON, Wis. -- The U.S. Economic Development Administration announced Tuesday the approval of $49 million in Phase 2 funding for the Wisconsin Biohealth Tech Hub application.

The Tech Hub said the investment aims to strengthen the area's capacity in personalized medicine, enhancing Wisconsin's role as a global leader. Early projections estimate up to 30,000 quality jobs created, and as much as $9 billion in regional GDP growth.

In Phase 2, the Tech Hub said it will expand its impact and innovation in areas like imaging, theranostics, genomics, and big data analysis. The Tech Hub's second phase will also enhance manufacturing coordination, advance critical genomic technology, and foster talent development in biohealth.

The Tech Hub said an additional $7.5 million in state funding and $24 million in industry commitments have been secured, which will fuel projects to advance personalized medicine, enhance healthcare outcomes, and drive economic development across Wisconsin.
