Mom Pencils in Baby's Eyebrows to Prank Dad and His Reaction Is Very Unexpected

Most clichés have at least a kernel of truth in them somewhere (which is how they got to be clichés in the first place). Case in point: Dads get a lot of flack for being somewhat oblivious when it comes to details about their kids — one hilarious example would be the man-on-the-street interviews on Jimmy Kimmel Live where fathers are asked to answer simple questions about their children (and usually fail miserably). Certainly, this isn't an accurate depiction of every dad out there...but it definitely is for some!

In a video posted on July 1, a mom decides to play a little joke on her husband to test his level of attention to detail. When he's not home, she pencils in their baby daughter's eyebrows, then waits to see if he'll notice when he comes back...and let's just say the guy isn't the most observant person on the planet.

"Would you have noticed??" wrote @shelbyjohnson0505 . Classic dad behavior ! This takes the whole "eyebrow blindness" concept to another level. Commenters were not particularly surprised by his reaction.

"I knew he wouldn't notice," wrote Brittany Thompson.

"Men really don't notice anything," wrote Jane D.

To be fair, he eventually did think that she looked "older" — but it's safe to say that if a dad played the same trick on a mom she would notice immediately! It could simply come down to the way men and women are hardwired, experts say.

Why Are Dads Sometimes Oblivious to Small Details?

According to National Geographic, one study found that "men and women really don't see eye to eye ."

"Females are better at discriminating among colors, researchers say, while males excel at tracking fast-moving objects and discerning detail from a distance — evolutionary adaptations possibly linked to our hunter-gatherer past...the vision findings support the so-called hunter-gatherer hypothesis, which argues that the sexes evolved distinct psychological abilities to fit their prehistoric roles, the team says. Noting that men in the study showed 'significantly greater sensitivity for fine detail and for rapidly moving stimuli,' the researchers write that their hunter forebears 'would have to detect possible predators or prey from afar and also identify and categorize these objects more easily.' Meanwhile, the vision of female 'gatherers' may have become better adapted recognizing close-at-hand, static objects such as wild berries."

Not only does that explain why the dad in this video didn't notice his daughter's eyebrows, it might be the reason why so many men can never find anything in the refrigerator (or anywhere else!).
