Is using the same baby name with a new partner wrong or just lazy?

A woman who shares a child with her ex-partner is horrified that he plans to use a name she loves for his baby with a new partner.

Before the couple welcomed their child, the woman had a miscarriage. The couple chose the first and middle name for that child before the pregnancy loss.

Four years later, they had a baby of the other gender so the original name they chose was never used. After they split up, he is now with a new fiance, who is pregnant. They recently announced the name of the future child, and it’s the same first and middle name they were going to use before the miscarriage.

Posting on Reddit , she wrote: “They are using the same first and middle name we had picked out together.

“I’m unsure if she knows, though. Would this rub anyone else the wrong way?”

Some people agreed with her that that’s a weird move.

One commenter said: “Yeah that does sound disturbing. I would feel uncomfortable too. I bet his new partner doesn’t even know.”

“I’d just laugh, he seems too lazy to think about other names .”

Others, however, reasoned he may just like the name and never got the chance to use it.

“Maybe he just liked the names... I have known for years before I met my wife what I would call my daughter (if she agreed, which she did)... she miscarriage with our first one too, but we didn’t change the name (we didn't know the gender),” one person explained.

Another said: “It's not weird, it's not your kid, it's not your business.”
