Lex Luger rubber stamps Bron Breakker, sees ‘unlimited upside’ in WWE superstar

When Lex Luger’s hand goes up, your mouths go shut. It’s the level of respect earned by someone who is not simply a legend in WWE and professional wrestling as a whole, but who quite literally helped it become the behemoth we know it as today. And when it comes to Bron Breakker, Luger has more than a few things to say.

    And they’re all spectacularly positive.

“Unlimited upside,” Luger said on a recent episode of the “Lex Expressed” podcast, via ewrestlingnews.com. “[Bron] put his time [into] learning his craft, and now he’s up with the big boys.”

That he is, having gone from dominating NXT to being a top draft pick for WWE RAW en route to, this coming Saturday at Money in the Bank in Toronto, squaring off against WWE Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn.

He’s also left several downed superstars in his wake, be it written (Ricochet) or real (Ludwig Kaiser) due to both his justifiable push by the creative team and, needless to say, by way of his inhuman athleticism.

The latter has Luger craving more of the RAW rookie sensation.

“I just like seeing him hit the ropes at 23 miles-per-hour,” said Luger. “… He’s explosive. He’s special.”

That said, Luger warns against Breakker becoming a cautionary tale.

“[But] they have to be careful,” he added of Breakker’s current full throttle style. “… I think there’s something to be learned with Brock Lesnar, that kind of character. They could do something special with Bron. I don’t feel that they’ve told him how to sell yet.

“Since he just came up there, he wants to sell really good for the guys he’s working with. I think he’s gotta find a middle ground there where he’s almost a monster. And he’s gotta sell, but not too much, and when he does sell, sell legit, but don’t oversell. I think they’ve gotta learn to balance him with that.

“And sometimes you just gotta smash him over certain guys… his matches have to match what they’re trying to turn him into.“

His first several matches on RAW did indeed see Breakker booked against obviously lesser-known talent whose job it was to get annihilated for the cause, before he was moved to more daunting competition in Ricochet and fellow former NXT’er turned RAW rookie sensation Ilja Dragunov in matches that showed he was more than simply the next Goldberg; and more than a nepotism hire.

Breakker isn’t simply one of the most athletic and physically gifted superstars the WWE has seen, he is also proving he can go the distance against the best the promotion has to offer.

Luger, like many of us, sees great things in the young Steiner’s future.
