MADISON, Wis. -- The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources announced Tuesday it will conduct a full drawdown on Bakken's Pond in Sauk County, beginning mid-July.

The DNR said it will be lowering the pond's water levels to prepare it for upcoming construction and repairs, slated to start in mid-July. The project will involve rebuilding the dike and replacing the gate in the water control structure, both damaged from past flooding.

The DNR said the repairs will restore its ability to manipulate water levels in the flowage. Some construction will begin while the water levels are being lowered, but the full project is expected to be completed in late fall.
