Angry Cat’s ‘Top Swats’ Are No Match for Golden Retriever's Positive Vibes

Some cats are just grumpy. No cat will ever be Grumpy Cat (may she rest in peace), but some cats get pretty close - they're just impossible to please. Luckily for them, even they are impossible to please, they're still adorable. All cats are!

For one cat, though, life isn't quite so easy. He lives with a Golden Retriever, and they couldn't be more different. While the cat loves to cause problems, the sweet dog just wants to be besties with everyone. On Saturday, June 29th, they parents finally posted a video of all of their most epic battles:

Neither Maple nor the Spare Human were harmed in the making of this video. Waffles does have all of his claws (and extra with his extra toes), but never extends them in his hits! #fyp #foryou #catsanddogs #creatorsearchinsights #dogsandcats #catsoftiktok #dogsoftiktok #cats #orangecat #grumpycat #goldenretriever

The Golden Breakfast Club is two siblings, Waffles and Maple, who have a complicated relationship. Deep down, though, they love each other. Of course they do!

Waffles is an 8-year-old boy cat, and he has golden fur that's pretty similar to Maple's. Waffles is also a polydactyl cat , meaning he has a couple of extra toes, which just means he has more to hit his sister with. She doesn't mind at all; like many Golden Retrievers, she's just happy to be involved.

According to his mom, Maple makes many a swat throughout every day, but he always does it close-pawed. With his claws drawn in, it's really nothing more than an aggressive pet - something Maple loves. It just means he knows he doesn't actually want to hurt the ones he's swatting at: he just wants to be dramatic. All is well in this sweet family!

Why Does My Cat Keep Swatting at Me?

Waffles' swats are nothing new, and there are millions of cats like him in the world. A no-claw swat is a non-threatening thing, and it could mean:

    1. The cat wants to play (in the 3rd clip of this video, I'd almost guarantee that's the case).
    2. The cat is warning you or something else to stay away (like in the 6th clip).
    3. The cat is overstimulated (the 2nd clip shows this well).

If your cat is swatting at your dog, other humans, or other cats, you should keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't become really aggressive. Your cat may be scared or even in pain!

Cats typically try not to pull out their claws unless they're making biscuits or they're really in danger. For example, if Maple walked up behind her brother and bit his tail, she might get the claws, and odds are, she has gotten the claws once or twice. Now, though, they've lived together for three years! He knows she has no bad intentions.
