NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Fourth of July holiday will feature very humid air plus the risk of thunderstorms (some strong) that could impact your outdoor plans. We already have a Heat Advisory in effect for most of Middle TN and Southern KY from 10am until 8pm Wednesday.
High temperatures Wednesday warm into the mid-90s. Feels like temperatures could be as high as 110! That is dangerous heat so take breaks in the air conditioning and drink plenty of water. This dangerous heat will continue for the 4th of July.
While the heat will be the dominating concern, there is a secondary issue of strong to severe thunderstorms. On Wednesday and Thursday, there is a Marginal Risk (Level 1/5) is in effect for all of Southern Kentucky and parts of Middle Tennessee. Friday, a Marginal Risk (Level 1/5) is in effect for southeast Southern Kentucky (including Clinton, Cumberland, & Monroe counties).
A few isolated storms this afternoon. The best rain chance will be late this evening and overnight near and north of Interstate 40. Southern Kentucky will have the highest chance for storms. Wind and heavy rain look to be the main concerns.
Thursday, July 4th
Feels like temperature will be above 100° as early as 10 A.M. with storms firing up late morning and continuing into early evening. A few of these storms could be strong with wind, hail, and heavy rain.
However, the storms should clear just into time for the fireworks downtown at 9:30pm. You can also watch them from the comfort of your own home right here on News 2.
Friday
Rain and storms will be most likely for all of the region. A few storms could be strong by midday and afternoon with temperatures still in the 80s to lower 90s.
This will set up less humid air for the weekend with highs in the 80s and lower 90s. A few showers possible Saturday morning as the front clears out. Then next week, storms and more humidity will return.
