SZA and Simone Biles doing handstands together is the Olympic preview we needed

Did y’all know SZA had pro gymnastic dreams? Neither did we… But when the singer had a chance to meet gold medalist Simon Biles ahead of the 2024 Olympics, SZA shared her past aspirations, and current day handstand skills.

“So hype” to meet her “wildest dream,” SZA revealed to Simone , her first dream was to be a national gymnast years ago. “I was nowhere near as cool as you, but I just have never seen anything like you — no one has,” SZA said, praising Biles.

While SZA’s original gymnastic dreams might have been out of reach, the singer did get to live out another one, by playing around in the gym with the gold medalist for a lighthearted yet still competitive handstand competition.

“I would love to just like, I don't know, play around in gym with you. That would be so fun,” SZA said. “You want to do a handstand contest?” Biles asked. “I don’t care about my nails, I’m scared to lose,” SZA told Biles, who cautioned her to be careful not to hurt herself while they warmed up for their friendly head-to-head.

While showing of her flexibility stretching, the singer noted that her pivot from gymnastics to music was brought about by her hunger for competition. “I was like ‘Okay, let me see what I can do or like see what else I can be… I needed something to be competitive at.”

After SZA impressed Biles with a handstand warmup, they both flipped themselves upside down and the competition began. After some playful back and forth hand-walks, the gymnast was forced to move out of the way and land on her feet first. In the end, SZA ended up staying upright longer… which means… she actually (kind of) beat the Olympic gymnast.

“That was so good!” Biles exclaims. “Okay, that was difficult,” SZA added.
