WASHINGTON COUNTY, Va. (WJHL) – A Southwest Virginia animal shelter that had temporarily closed due to a parvo outbreak is accepting intakes again.

The Washington County, Virginia C.C. Porter Animal Shelter reopened on Tuesday, shelter supervisor Bobby Justus told News Channel 11.

The shelter announced on June 18 it would temporarily close due to a parvo outbreak.

As of Tuesday, six dogs were being housed at the shelter, and staff said they would be available for adoption starting Wednesday.

The shelter has resumed the intake of animals to the shelter, Justus said.
