Miss Night and Day is an ongoing Netflix K-drama that has grabbed viewers’ attention. Starring Jung Eun-Ji and Lee Jung-Eun in lead roles, the series revolves around a young woman who turns into her fifties during the day. Interestingly, the concept of age-jumping and body-swapping is quite common in Korean dramas.
Miss Night and Day features Eun-Ji as Lee Mi-Jin. One day, she wakes up in her fifties but does not lose the confidence to find a job. Somehow, her 50-year-old version, Im Sun (Jung-Eun), is a clerk at prosecutor Gye Ji-Ung’s (Choi Jin-Hyuk) office. The Netflix synopsis reads, “A woman who magically switches between her 20s and 50s lands an internship at the Prosecution Service, caught between two generations and a tough boss.”

High School Return of a Gangster
High School Return of a Gangster is a 2024 K-drama starring Yoon Chan-Young, Bong Jae-Hyun, and Lee Seo-Jin in lead roles. Based on a webtoon, the series revolves around a 47-year-old gangster, Deuk-Pal, witnessing a 19-year-old high schooler attempting suicide.
At that moment, the gangster’s spirit enters the young man’s body. Deuk-Pal then learns that the teenager is bullied at school. He sets out to seek revenge and befriends his classmate Se-Kyung. The latter is a victim of domestic violence. In the webtoon, the high school boys end up as lovers, but the drama portrays them as best friends.
18 Again
18 Again is a 2020 K-drama, which is the remake of the American film, 17 Again (2009). The synopsis reads, “At a difficult place in his marriage and career, a middle-aged man gets a shot at a do-over when he’s transformed back into his 18-year-old body.”
The middle-aged Hong Dae-Young is played by Yoon Sang-Hyun, while his teen version is essayed by Lee Do-Hyun. Actress Kim Ha-Neul plays Dae-Young’s wife, Jung Da-Yung. Hierarchy’s Roh Jeong-Eui and Twinkling Watermelon’s Ryeon play the roles of their kids. Unlike the American film, the K-drama adds depth to each character to stretch the storyline fit for 16 episodes. It is available on several streaming platforms, including Netflix.
Abyss
Abyss is a 2019 romance comedy starring Park Bo-Young and Ahn Hyo-Seop in lead roles. The synopsis reads, “After meeting an untimely demise in separate incidents, Cha Min and Go Se-Yeon discover they’ve come back to life in new bodies they don’t recognize.” Before a fatal accident, Se-Yeon was a beautiful female prosecutor. Later, the Abyss marble revives her spirit in a different body with an ordinary appearance.
On the other hand, Cha Min does not have an attractive personality but is a kind-hearted heir to a Korean cosmetic company. His new body is that of a charming man. In their new lives, the two end up working at a regular law firm. While solving the mystery of the Abyss marble, they fall in love. The K-drama also stars Seo In-Guk and Jung So-Min as Grim Reapers. The series is available to stream on Netflix.
Mr. Queen
Mr. Queen is also one of the K-dramas like Miss Night and Day. In the 2020 series, famous chef Jang Bong-Hwan (Choi Jin-Hyuk) wakes up in Queen Kim So-Yong’s (Shin Hye-Sun) body after drowning in a swimming pool. He travels back to the Joseon era when societies were governed by royalty. From his struggles in a female body to falling in love with King Cheol-Jong (Kim Jung-Hyun), the drama has a unique storyline.
On Netflix, the synopsis reads, “After waking up in the body of a 19th-century queen, a chef must navigate the royal court and find a way back to the present — and his own life.” It is also available to stream on Viki.
