Baseball fans are curious about what happened to Corey Seager . The Texas Rangers appear to have another injury on their hands after the 30-year-old baseball veteran encountered a nasty blow in their bout against the Baltimore Orioles. Consequently, the agile shortstop had to retreat to the dugout without completing the game.
Here are all the available updates regarding Corey Seager’s injury, as well as his current state.
How did Corey Seager get injured?
During the fifth inning in the Rangers’ third game in their series against the Orioles, Corey Seager was hit by a Cade Povich pitch on his left wrist.
Seager seemingly misjudged Povich’s 90.5 mph pitch and quickly fell to the ground after being hit, per WFAA . The former Dodgers player was able to stand on his accord but instantly decided to head back after his injury.
However, initial assessments of his wrist have been positive, showcasing minimum damage. As reported by MLB ‘s official website, Rangers manager Bruce Bochy has termed it “good news.” Seager himself stated that if “it’s not broken in that situation, it’s better.” However, X-rays do not provide a conclusive report on such injuries. As a result, Corey Seager could have to undergo MRI tests before the severity of his injury is determined.
Having struck a 416-foot solo home run in the first inning, the two-time World Series champion was eventually replaced by Davis Wendzel. In the absence of their star player, the Rangers succumbed to the Orioles’ attack, losing the bout 5-6. Seager also missed the series finale due to his ailment, with coach Bochy claiming that the player was “pretty sore.”
More updates regarding Seager’s injury will come soon and may decide the Rangers’ remaining season. While Max Scherzer has returned to the first-team setup, they are still missing Jacob deGrom, Josh Jung, as well as Evan Carter due to fitness issues.
